250 New Free Audio Books on Spotify
At LearnOutLoud, we’ve made a big Spotify playlist that currently features over 1,300 free audio books on Spotify. These audio books are from publishers who’ve distributed their titles on Spotify for free to both premium and non-subscribers (they, of course, get paid royalties the same way musicians do). We’ve added the first track of each audio book to this playlist. If you click on the album of the track, then you’ll get the full audio book and be able to listen to it. Check out our full playlist here:
Best Free Audio Books on Spotify
We just added over 250 new free audio books to this Spotify playlist, and we’ll list all these audio books with links to them below. If you find an audio book you like from this list, we recommend you listen to it soon, as we’ve seen hundreds of audio books come and go on Spotify in the past years due to rights changing.
As you might know, Spotify currently sells about 350,000 audio book titles. They’re currently locked, and you need to purchase them through a web browser to get access to them. Spotify has struggled with Apple, who has prevented them from selling the audio books through their iOS app without paying Apple 30% of the sale (which is quite outrageous).
But in recent news we’ve learned Spotify might be circumventing selling audio books altogether by offering Spotify Premium members 15 hours per month of streaming time of a library of over 150,000 audio books from many major publishers (which they’ll pay royalties to). This has been rolled out for users in the UK and Australia and is supposedly coming to the United States in the winter.
In the meantime, we’ve added 250 free audio books to our list that you can listen to whether you’re a subscriber to Spotify Premium or not. Here is that list broken down by publisher. We’ll link directly to these audio books on Spotify.
Note: It’s come to our attention that free users of Spotify can no longer play albums or playlists in order on mobile. Spotify mobile apps force free users to play in shuffle mode. Pretty annoying for audiobooks! If you’re not a Spotify Premium user and you want to play these audiobooks in order, you’ll need to play them on your desktop or tablet. Sorry!
