William Faulkner is one of the most esteemed writers in American history. Faulkner was born in Mississippi and lived in the state throughout his life. His writing is highly influenced by the culture of the South and of Mississippi. Throughout most of his life, Faulkner suffered from alcoholism that had very harmful impacts on his health and personal life. However, he was still able to produce some of America's most respected literary works.

Faulkner's greatest works include The Sound and the Fury, As I Lay Dying, and Absalom, Absalom!. These novels were all published from 1929-1936. The Sound and the Fury tells the story of an elite southern family that is slowly falling apart. The novel is divided into sections, telling the stories of various family members and from a more general point of view. As I Lay Dying is a fictional account of a woman's death and her family and community's reactions to her death and wishes. Those interested in this novel can download the audiobook on LearnOutLoud.com. Absalom, Absalom! tells the story of a poor southern man who rises to, and then falls from, wealth. The novel is told from the views of those close to him. Absalom, Absalom! is also available for audiobook download. Faulkner also wrote many short stories that readers can find in the Collected Stories of William Faulkner. This collection includes many of Faulkner's classic short stories, as well as some more lesser known ones and they are all available here for download as an audiobook.

These novels and many of Faulkner's other works are available for audio download. This allows for greater availability of some of Faulkner's best works, and for greater usability by a wider audience of prospective readers.
