LearnOutLoud.com Review
In this hour-long lecture, Skeptic magazine founder, Michael Shermer examines the robust human appetite for belief in the unknown. For Shermer, there is a big difference between what someone wants to believe, and what they should believe, and the only method human beings have created to discern truth from fiction is the scientific method. To illustrate his point, Shermer points a harsh light on what attracts many people to conspiracy theories, political bias and religious faith, arguing that reason should trump any claim that can't be tested. As he put it simply, "Truth is provisional". This talk was delivered at the Center for Inquiry in New York City and is available on YouTube.
