LearnOutLoud.com Review
Many artists and filmmakers would like to tap into whatever creative energy that film director David Lynch tapped into in his many memorable films. With this 70-minute documentary from the David Lynch Foundation, Lynch attempts to explain a key factor in his creativity through the practice of Transcendental Meditation. From 2007 to 2009, Lynch went on a 16-country speaking tour explaining Transcendental Meditation, which is a meditation practice developed by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi that became popular in the 1960s and 1970s. In this documentary, Lynch answers many questions about meditation, along with questions regarding his creative process. He addresses Transcendental Meditation in relation to other forms of meditation and religious practices. His passion for meditation and its ability to bring about bliss and pure consciousness is apparent in all the answers he gives. The audio quality varies for some of the events, but the message is clear from Lynch's belief in the power of meditation to aid in all forms of creativity.
