Seattle Pacific University is pleased to host John M. Perkins, an outspoken Christian and civil rights leader, international speaker, and teacher on issues of racial reconciliation, leadership and community development. The son of a sharecropper, he grew up in Mississippi amidst dire poverty. In 1960, after his conversion to Christ, he became a leader in the Civil Rights Movement and sought to share the Gospel. He endured repeated harassment, imprisonment and beatings. He is now the President of the John M. Perkins Foundation for Reconciliation, Leadership Training, and Community Development.
