LearnOutLoud.com Review
In this lecture, best-selling tech author Steven Johnson describes an emerging worldview that has developed culturally and politically in the 21st century that doesn’t adhere to either left or right-wing polarities. In what he calls “peer network collaboration”, Johnson outlines how different institutions have begun to adopt problem solving methods that take on a Wikipedia-esque model, where a crowd is invited to collaborate on a given problem or policy issue. He describes how we might lay the popular Kickstarter crowdfunding model on top of city planning initiatives; a system of layered peer networks that both identify personally with the issue at at hand and are willing to become an active part of the solution. Will these decentralized systems outperform the typically centralized systems of control as we move deeper into the 21st century? Johnson argues that it may work better in a global marketplace.
