In this talk given at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and offered by C-SPAN, New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman chats with American historian and foreign policy commentator Robert Kagan about his book Dangerous Nation: America's Place in the World from its Earliest Days to the Dawn of the Twentieth Century. In the book Kagan dispels the myth that America was an isolationist country up until recent times. He delves into situations in U.S. history which bear strong resemblance to the current state of affairs in the Middle East and the controversy it has generated at home and abroad.
