Historian David McCullough sits down with Charlie Rose and discusses his latest book The American Spirit: Who We Are and What We Stand For. The book is composed of some of the best speeches McCullough has given over the years, and in this conversation McCullough provides some of the wisdom he has learned from a lifetime of studying American history and American Presidents. McCullough believes that the best Presidents have been students of American history, and he provides examples from some of the favorite Presidents he has studied. He advises how to make young people interested in history and feels that history should be much more than the history of politics and the military.
