LearnOutLoud.com Review
From the BBC’s three-part 1999 documentary television series “Human, All Too Human” comes this documentary on the great German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. The documentary in mainly a biography of Nietzsche covering his life from childhood to his descent into insanity at the age of forty-four. It touches upon his philosophy including ideas such as the “death of God”, the Ubermensch, and the Will to Power. Interspersed throughout the documentary are interviews with scholars of Nietzsche and other intellectuals. The documentary tries to connect Nietzsche’s sickly and isolated adult life with his philosophy, and generally argues against his association with German militarism and Nazism. For a 50-minute documentary it does a fine job of introducing the life and ideas of Friedrich Nietzsche.
