Most episodes focus on a particular psychedelic drug and its history and current use in today's society. Host Arielle Duhaime-Ross is a good guide through this moment in psychedelics as she provides a nuanced look at the benefits and harms that each of these drugs could cause. She starts off by reporting on the legalization of magic mushrooms in Oregon and how the process of taking mushrooms legally is going there. She interviews Michael Pollan (author of the best-selling book on psychedelics How to Change Your Mind) about the history of ecstasy and its potential for treating PTSD. She covers some of the risks of psychedelics in a few episodes, including the potential for strange visual distortions following psychedelic trips and the possible addictive qualities of the popular drug ketamine. There's also an episode focusing on preserving peyote for Native Americans as the demand for psychedelics has led to the poaching of the plant.
