LearnOutLoud.com Review
In this short discussion from Charlie Rose in the late 1990s, film director Alan Pakula, author William Styron, and Robert Boorstin, senior advisor to the secretary of the treasury, all briefly talk about their experiences with mental illness. They focus mostly on the stigma attached to talking openly about one's mental illness at the time. They also discuss the challenges of getting healthcare and spending government money on treating mental illness. While much work still needs to be done, thankfully steps have been taken in the past decades to help to reduce the stigma around mental health and to receive more healthcare coverage for mental illness.
