LearnOutLoud.com Review
A few years after Danish physicist Niels Bohr passed away in 1962, Robert Oppenheimer delivered this speech at UCLA in 1964 on the life of Bohr. Oppenheimer begins with Bohr's personal life and his contributions to atomic science. He tells the story of Bohr's escape from the Germans and his involvement in the Manhattan Project. And he speaks of Bohr's activism after World War II and his efforts toward international cooperation in the nuclear age. He provides numerous anecdotes from Bohr's life that reflect Oppenheimer's admiration for the man. It is a serious and sometimes somber talk from Oppenheimer delivered just a few years before his death and at the height of the Cold War.
