LearnOutLoud.com Review
This documentary is a fascinating look at the largest body of water in California that was created through an engineering fiasco in the early 20th century when the Colorado River was diverted into the Salton Sink in the southern California desert. This 350 square mile body of water became a vacation getaway in the 1950s but as the lake's salinity increased and killed off millions of fish and the sea flooded, the tourist population fled creating ghost towns and an uncertain future for this bizarre body of water in the midst of the desert. Interviews with the remaining inhabitants provide insight into the region and the conflicting ideas about what will become of the Salton Sea. The documentary is narrated by filmmaker John Waters.
