Prepare yourself for amazing aerial footage of planet Earth in this $12 million budget 2009 documentary narrated by Glenn Close. For 18 months director Yann Arthus-Bertrand and his camera crew flew by small helicopter over 50 countries capturing over 400 hours of footage. The resultant documentary goes over a brief history of planet Earth and then explores the impact of humanity on the planet since the dawn of the industrial revolution and the consumption of fossil fuels. The film covers many environmental issues including deforestation, global warming, desertification, and other issues that are supported with remarkable aerial photography. It's not all doom and gloom though, as the film ends with some of the more positive developments in confronting climate change, energy consumption, and tackling other global environmental issues. This 90-minute documentary was made available for free on YouTube and has logged over 30 million views. Watch this excellent documentary on a big screen in HD if possible!
