Description
At a Mass in St. Peter's Square, Pope Benedict XVI is formally installed as the Catholic Church's 265th pontiff. The Mass, called "the ceremony of investiture," is celebrated by the senior cardinal deacon, Jorge Arturo Medina Estevez of Chile. During the Mass, the new Pope receives the symbols of his papal authority: the Fisherman's Ring and the pallium, a stole of white wool embroidered with six black silk crosses.
