, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author David Maraniss sums up his book
They Marched into Sunlight: War and Peace, Vietnam and America, October 1967
which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for History in 2004. He discusses two events during the Vietnam War which he felt came at a turning point in the war when it became government officials began to doubt they could win the war and when public anti-war sentiment escalated and became violent. The events the book centers around which he describes in this talk were the Battle of Ong Thanh where U.S. troops were ambushed by Viet Cong and a protest at the University of Wisconsin-Madison which turned violent.
