LearnOutLoud.com Review
Rock critic Lester Bangs gives a cranky interview to Fresh Air in 1980 on the state of rock music. In terms of his criticism, he feels the true rock fan both praises and criticizes his favorite bands and isn't just a hype man. Bangs had just written a book on the band Blondie, and he provides some of his thoughts on them. He throws out a lot of harsh criticisms of certain bands but gives high praise to The Velvet Underground, which he felt a lot of the good music of the time came out of. Bangs was also a musician himself, and they played his song "Live" during the interview. It's an entertaining discussion with Bangs a few years before he died at age 33 in 1982.
