Description

On December 1, 1990, Garrison Keillor's American Radio Company presented a very special live broadcast from the Mark Twain Memorial in Hartford, Connecticut. It was a most appropriate place for Keillor to perform, since his work has so often evoked echoes of Twain's in the minds of fans and critics alike.

Twain moved into the Hartford house in 1874, and it was there that he wrote many of his finest books. The show that Keillor and company performed in the home's library a century later paid homage to Twain's genius and personality with crackling humor, wonderful period music, and a classic Keillor monologue on some of Twain's most cherished themes. Guests include another great American humorist, Roy Blount, Jr. (he and Keillor shoot pool--in stereo--on Mark Twain's billards table), the Gregg Smith Quartet, and singer Pamela Warrick-Smith.
